The Alexander Technique
Naina Dewan is a Certified Alexander Technique Teacher, Dance Educator, Choreographer, and the Artistic Director of Naina Dewan Dance Company. She earned a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Dance Studies at the State University of New York at Geneseo, a M.F.A. in Dance at Hollins University, and a National Teacher Certification at the American Center for the Alexander Technique in New York, NY. Naina has also studied at New York University and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival & School.
Naina has had a private practice teaching Alexander Technique since 1999. She has also taught at Hillcrest Educational Centers and Berkshire Dance Theatre in western Massachusetts. Since relocating to Greenville in 2012, she has taught at DanceArts Greenville, International Ballet Academy, Fine Arts Center, SC Governor’s School of Arts & Humanities, and Converse College.

The Alexander Technique is a method of neuromuscular somatic education that gently reduces habitual muscular tension and enhances body awareness, ease of movement, embodied presence, poise and performance.
